Referee Milorad Mazic made a mistake in sending Pepe off in the game between Germany and Portugal, according to Andújar Oliver, a former international referee and currently MARCA's in-house refereeing expert.
The Portuguese player was not aggressive towards Müller, but he did manage to get himself sent off for confronting the German. A sequence of events lacking class from everyone involved made the Serbian referee decide that it was the right time to send Real Madrid's Portuguese player down the tunnel for an early bath.
