NFF:Umeh, Odegbami Cleared to Contest Seats

After initially failing to be cleared to contest the next NFF elections by the electoral committee, acting president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mike Umeh has finally been cleared to contest – albeit by the electoral appeals committee after the former first vice president of the NFF was disqualified by the Amoni Biambo led electoral committee. Umeh, alongside former Nigeria international Segun Odegbami had appealed their disqualification to the appeals committee, and chairman of the electoral appeals committee, Dotun Coker has confirmed that the duo have now been cleared to contest the elections. “The acting president, Chief Mike Okeke Umeh appealed his disqualification and after hearing his appeal, the committee concluded that his disqualification was in disregard of the statutes and so therefore, he has been cleared to contest for the position of the NFF President,” Coker told Hot FM. “Also, Mr. Segun Odagbami has been cleared, but for the position of an ordinary executive committee member of the NFF. “His disqualification was also in disregard of the statutes and we have confirmed that he received an endorsement from the chairman of the Ebonyi state football association, Chief Obinna Ogba to contest for the position of an ordinary executive committee member, and not for the presidency.” Coker also added that his committee had failed to clear a former General Secretary of the NFF, Taiwo Ogunjobi, who is still serving a two year ban imposed by the Aminu Maigari led NFF board.
