Uwadiegwu Vows To Maintain momentum
Enyimba left-back Uwadiegwu Uwgu admits he is keen to continue the season on top form.
"Right now I'm playing quite well," he told EnyimbaFC.net. "I had dealt with injuries early in the season but now I'm very fit and playing well. The 27-year-old has scored two important goals so far in the Glo Premier League; helping Enyimba earn a point in Enugu and Umuahia against Rangers and Abia Warriors, respectively.
"What is important now is that I keep it up and play all the matches like that, so that the team can continue to do well. The fact that I'm scoring goals from my position as a left back is important so I have to be in top form."
"My two goals have helped the team get some points and that is very crucial."
Enyimba's early-season form was tarnished by poor results away from home but returned manager Kadiri Ikhana has reignited positive team spirit and getting the team to points away from Aba.
"We have the squad to win the league and we need to be consistent," Uwadiegwu added. "We must try to stop making mistakes at closing stages of games so we can climb up the table because at the end of the season, these little points here and there make the difference."
Enyimba, who remain in fourth place on the Nigerian elite league table, need to close the gap on leaders Kano Pillars, Nasarawa and Sunshine Stars. Ugwu believes any drop in his own form could affect the six-time champions. They meet Taraba FC on Saturday.
