Nigerian Premier League: Injury Knocks Out Uwadiegwu Against Crown

Enyimba will be without full-back Ugwu Uwadiegwu when they face Crown FC in Oshogb on Matchday 30 of the Nigerian Premier League. The left back has failed to recover from the hamstring injury that has kept him out for two weeks but is expected to return in time to face Gombe United a game later, it was reported on the club's website. The team doctor Ferdinand Ajere said, “he is yet to regain full fitness and will not be risked in the Crown FC fixture this weekend. "He has not fully recovered," Ajere said. "There is definitely an improvement in his condition but he has not reached a point where I can say it is okay for him to return to active football. "It will be too great a risk to feature him against Crown so he will not be traveling with the team." Central defender Markson Ojobo has been preferred by coach Kadiri Ikhana for the position in the interim while Emma Anyanwu is favouredto play the right back. It is a make-shift defense by the coach given the groin injury sustained by another defender Semiu Liadi. "Hopefully Uwadiegwu is expected to make a quick recovery and will be in the team again very soon because at this point he's training lightly." Ajere stated. Uwadiegwu has been a vital part of Enyimba's campaign this season, scoring crucial away goals that helped the team earn points at Enugu against Rangers and in Umuahia against Abia Warriors.
