Zambia' s soccer governing body said it will back the current head of the world soccer governing body, FIFA, who has confirmed that he was re-contesting the seat next year, the Times of Zambia reported on Thursday. Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) spokesperson Nkweto Tembwe said the soccer governing body was 101 percent behind the candidature of Blatter at the general congress to be held in May next year. "I want to announce that as per the decision made during the FIFA Congress, the Football Association of Zambia wants to re-affirm its support behind the candidature of Blatter as president at the 2015 congress," he was quoted as saying by the paper. Blatter has informed member associations of his decision to re-contest his seat. His only challenger so far is former FIFA deputy secretary-general Jerome Champagne. The decision to re-contest the position was a u-turn after he pledged not to seek another term when he won his four-year stint at the helm in 2011.
