Africa's iconic boxing legend Azumah Nelson’s unrivalled boxing legacy
will be etched in the minds of boxing lovers when he, together with a
host of others, is honoured at the 52nd WBC Convention.
The ceremony, scheduled for December 15 at the Mirage Hotel in Las
Vegas, Nevada, will see the boxing professor and others being honoured
for displaying excellence in their respective categories.
The WBC will honour the best two champions of each division of the history of the WBC.
Professor Azumah Nelson and the late Alexis Arguello from Nicaragua
will be honoured for the Super featherweight, while Salvador Sanchez and
Jeff Fenech will receive honours in Featherweight division.
Famed boxers, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis will be honoured for the
Heavyweight division. Evander Holyfield and Juan Carlos Gomez will be
recognised in the Cruiserweight division while Roy Jones Jr. and Michael
Spinks will be honoured for their Light Heavyweight.
All 34 all-time greats will be presented with special award title belts
which will also pay tribute to the late WBC President, Jose Sulaiman.
Following the honour, Azumah Nelson will subsequently launch his book
“The Professor” on Tuesday December 16 at the convention before
returning to Ghana.
