Real Madrid will wait for the keeper to turn down a new deal with the Premier League side and see out his current contract. When that happens, the deal De Gea agreed on Monday can be made official.
The relationship between Real Madrid and Manchester United has hit rock bottom. This was evident from the communications between them on Tuesday. The two clubs are now reading from completely different hymn sheets and neither seems willing to back down. They had got along fine in recent seasons, but have now fallen out over De Gea's failed transfer.
There are still doubts surrounding what Van Gaal will do with his keeper. The fact that Romero is currently first-choice keeper is not reason enough to continue punishing the Spaniard. His teammates want him back in goal, but the Dutchman will have the final word, although De Gea's inclusion in United's Champions League squad bodes well for the Spaniard, as does the club's interest in offering him a new deal.
De Gea has again showed his professionalism, this time on international duty with Spain. Nothing seems to affect him. At least not out on the pitch.
