Anyansi said on the club’s website: “We have done well this season. To win the Federation Cup and finish second in such a difficult Premier league campaign is no small feat.”
"Of course we would have preferred to win the league as well but we have to accept our second place finish as a triumph on its own, given how we started the season. Nobody gave us a chance. At some point we were even fifteenth on the table but today we have a trophy and a CAF Champions League ticket to celebrate,” he declared.
Enyimba did have a turbulent first round in the just concluded 2012/2013 league season, dropping points at home to Warri Wolves and Kwara United but their resurgence in the second half of the league saw them climb to the top and remain in the top four till the very end.
A testament to the club's determination to succeed is the record they set by becoming the first team to go a full season without conceding a goal at home.
The club website quotes him further,” “Any team that feels the sort of problems we had and still have the tenacity and courage to push for the title is indeed a great team and deserve a special moment. This is our special moment. That we even ended the season without conceding a goal at home is another feat to recognize and celebrate.”
"I thank the Abia State Governor, Chief T. A. Orji for standing by us throughout, for making these achievements possible. I equally thank our fans for their support and love throughout. The support of our fans mean a lot to us and I dedicate everything we win to them. I am confident that next season we will achieve even more than we have this season.” He added.
