Nigeria’s two representatives for the 2014 CAF Champions League campaign, Kano Pillars and Enyimba International have been drawn to meet Congolese and Togolese opponents respectively in the preliminary round of the competition.
Fixtures released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo after the draws were made draws, show that league champions, Pillars will take on AS Vita of Congo DR, while Enyimba International, who were African champions in 2003 and 2004, would face Anges De Notse of Togo.
While Pillars will play the first leg game away and host their opponents in the second leg, while Enyimba will be at home in Aba.
The competition, which is now in its 50th edition running as African Cup of Champions, the new format as League is in it’s 18th edition and has a total 52 clubs in the round.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that matches in the preliminary round will hold in February, with the first leg between Feb. 7 and Feb. 9 and the second leg between Feb. 14 and Feb. 16, 2014.
The 26 winners in the preliminary round will be joined at the round of 32 by six other clubs drawn bye. Teams drawn bye are title-holders Al Ahly of Egypt, Coton Sport of Cameroon, TP Mazembe of DR Congo, El-Hilal of Sudan, CS Sfaxien of Tunisia and Esperance Sportive de Tunis of Tunisia
