Schumacher’s Head Injury Caused By GoPro, French Journalist Says

F1 LEGEND Michael Schumacher’s traumatic head injuries were caused by GoPro camera mounted to his helmet when he fell in a December skiing accident, according to a new report. French journalist Jean-Louis Moncet said had been in contact with Schumacher’s son, Mick, who passed on the latest development. “The problem for Michael was not the hit, but the mounting of the Go-Pro camera that he had on his helmet that injured his brain,” Moncet told a French radio station. London’s The Telegraph reported earlier this year that the GoPro may have been an issue. Experts from ENSA, the world-renowned ski and climbing academy in the French ski resort of Chamonix, conducted tests on whether the camera weakened the helmet on impact. “The helmet completely broke. It was in at least two parts. ENSA analysed the piece of the helmet to check the material, and all was OK,” a source close to the investigation told The Telegraph. “But why did it explode on impact? Here the camera comes into question. The laboratory has been testing to see if the camera weakened the structure.” Moncet also quoted Mick Schumacher, 15, of saying the seven-time F1 world champion was waking up “very slowly” from his medically induced coma. “Although things are going at a slow pace, he has a lot of time, I would say he has his whole life in front of him to get back on track,” Moncet added. Schumacher, 45, is being treated at his Switzerland home following six months of care in a French hospital.
