Chukwumerije has been no less an inspiration for Taekwondo acceptance in Nigeria's higher Institutions, Says Orodele

Secretary of Nigeria University Games Association has credited the Olympic bronze medalist, Chika Chukwumerije for the upsurge of the sport in higher institutions of learning in the country, saying the athletes’s exploits plus the fact that as a student, he had competed in the NUGA Games added flavour to the sports fast growth in institutions. “I can say that taekwondo has taken the top spot in higher institutions with Chukwumerije s exploits out there at the world stage plus the fact that as a student he had graced the NUGA Games putting aside his status as player on the world stage who boasts medals from the Commonwealth Games, All Africa  Games and Olympic Games .”  “We in NUGA are happy to state that his successes and participation in our games had led to a widespread acceptance of taekwondo in the Nigerian inter-collegiate system which comprise NUGA, NIPOGA and NACEGA. It is vividly seen in the tremendous rise of taekwondo clubs in higher in the institutions and it is one of the most contested sports in the NUGA Games for instance.. Taekwondo is a combat sport but it is among the most popular engaged by students of higher institutions and it is still growing,” Orodele stated.

Asked to give his assessment of the athlete, Orodole, told AroundTheSports It's great to have somebody with his energy, agility and outlook in our family. It changes the entire game plan. It encourages a new generation of students into the game. His character and style of play is different. He breaks the mould of those who lead and others follow. He's a real fighter on to emulate. I think there're a lot of things to admire about him even outside the fight arena I pray that more like him rise from our university system to world acclaim.”
