Lionesses are among the teams that have joined Nigeria’s Super Falcons
in reaching the Women’s Football Tournament of the 11th All-Africa Games.
The Games, slated for September 3-18
in Brazzaville, will also welcome Egypt’s Female Pharaohs, Tanzania’s
Twiga Stars and the Les Elephantes of Cote d’Ivoire. Host
Congo-Brazzaville qualified automatically.
Falcons turned back Mali 9-1 on aggregate, while Ghana edged Zimbabwe 4-3 after both teams finished 2-2 in Harare on Sunday, after a 2-1 first leg win for the Black Queens.
Egypt shocked Senegal 2-1 in Dakar after both teams finished 0-0 in
Cairo, and Tanzania has away form to thank after falling 3-2 to Zambia
in Dar es Salaam. The Twiga Stars had won the first leg 4-2 in Lusaka.
South Africa pounded Botswana 5-0 at Dobsonville for a 6-0 aggregate;
Cameroon won 2-1 each leg over Ethiopia and; Cote d’Ivoire qualified
following the withdrawal of Guinea-Bissau.
